Keep your hot-dip galvanized trailer in top condition: maintenance tips

1. Cleaning and maintenance to protect the galvanized layer

Regular cleaning of the trailer surface is necessary to remove dust, mud, oil, and other debris, preventing long-term adhesion and corrosion of the galvanized layer. Wipe with clean water and a soft cloth. For stubborn oil stains, use a neutral detergent; never use strong acids or alkalis, as these can damage the galvanized layer. After cleaning, dry the surface thoroughly, paying particular attention to corners and welds where water can accumulate, to prevent rust caused by dampness and extend the lifespan of the galvanized layer.

2. Timely component inspection to eliminate potential hazards

Regularly inspect the condition of all core components of the trailer, paying particular attention to tire pressure and wear. Ensure tire pressure is normal and tread patterns are clear; replace tires promptly if severely worn. Check bearings and axles for smooth rotation, unusual noises, or overheating; add lubricating grease as needed. Also, inspect bolts, nuts, and other fasteners; tighten any loose ones, and replace missing or damaged parts with compatible replacements to prevent component failures from affecting usability.

3. Lubrication and maintenance ensure flexibility

Lubricate and maintain the moving parts of the trailer, including outriggers, tow pins, and hinges. Regularly apply specialized lubricating oil or grease to reduce friction and ensure smooth operation. Before lubrication, clean impurities and old grease from the surface of the parts to ensure effective lubrication. Adjust the lubrication cycle according to usage frequency and environment; shorten the cycle in humid or dusty environments to prevent parts from rusting and jamming.

Store and protect to reduce damage

When not in use, proper storage protection is necessary. Park the trailer in a dry, well-ventilated area, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, rain, or immersion in standing water. A sunshade or waterproof cover can be erected to further insulate against harsh external environments. Before storage, check that the trailer is clean and dry, with the outriggers fully on the ground for support, reducing stress on the tires and preventing deformation or corrosion of components due to prolonged inactivity, thus maintaining the trailer in good condition.
